Verizon Looking to Match Sprint's Mobile Unlimited Plans

Verizon Wireless is experimenting in the San Diego and Los Angeles, CA, markets to match Sprint’s Simply Everything mobile calling plan, which includes unlimited talk, text, and web at a low price. Verizon’s plans in the test markets will be about $20 less than the current all-inclusive plan, with unlimited talk and text for $69.99 and unlimited mobile broadband data on handsets for an additional $29.99, bringing the package price to just under $100.

It’s unclear if Verizon will be expanding its new price plans to other markets, but the lower priced unlimited plan will be welcomed by customers who are looking to save a little money while not having to worry about overages. In the past, larger carriers like Verizon Wireless and rival AT&T have ignored smaller rivals in offering competitive plans, citing the competitive advantage of their network performance, robust coverage and features, and extended network in utilizing free mobile-to-mobile calling. This move by Verizon shows that the carrier is seriously looking at the actions of its smaller competitors and also shows that Sprint’s influencing the industry with its more competitive pricing plans.
