ViewSonic 7-inch Android-powered ViewPad 7 Goes Official

While most folks were expecting the major announcements to come during the IFA, ViewSonic has made the 7-inch ViewPad 7 official before the event. The Android 2.2 Froyo device will be powered by a 700MHz ARM CPU and will sport an 800 x 480 pixel resolution display and shouldn’t be going for more than £350 ($543) in the UK. Other features of the ViewPad 7 include a 3-megapixel front-facing and VGA back-facing camera, 3G connectivity to support both phone and data connections, a full-sized SIM card slot, and microSD card expansion. Surprisingly though, despite the inclusion of a SIM card slot and mobile phone functionality, it lacks an earpiece, so you probably wouldn’t want to ditch your mobile phone for the ViewPad 7 anytime soon. Review units of the ViewPad 7 should begin to appear in October 2010.
