Contrary to initial report from Vodafone UK customers, it seems that the official Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Galaxy S does not void your warranty – as it says on its official forum, that “any firmware that hasn’t been released by us does invalidate the warranty directly with Vodafone.” It seemed that there was a mix up, since the JM1 update came from Samsung instead of Vodafone without the latter’s approval. All’s well that ends well though, as Vodafone mentioned that the JM1 will not void your Galaxy S warranty, which is good news for all owners.
