Canon PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera

Canon has laid claim to the mantle of the longest-ranged point-and-shoot camera thanks to the introduction of their PowerShot SX30 IS. This camera is in its element whenever you decide to take full advantage of its new 35X, 24-840mm equivalent lens alongside additional hardware which is capable of compensating for any exaggerated shakes. With its image stabilization capability, it is able to compensate to the equivalent of four to five stop, where it will also ship with both a regular ultra-low dispersion lens element and a second with a high refractive index in order to minimize chromatic aberration at the far end of the zoom range. The 14.1-megapixel sensor is accompanied by a 2.7-inch swivelling LCD display, 720p HD video recording capability, and an SDXC memory card slot for expansion purposes. Be prepared to fork out around $430 for the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS later this month. [Press Release]
