A Reuters report pointed out that Rubin, Google VP Engineering who oversees Android development, has actually been knee deep in talks with record labels and has expectations of rolling out their Google Music service by the time Christmas rolls around (and not this fall as previously speculated). This will definitely challenge Apple’s iTunes platform, and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Google Music service will be deeply connected to the Android mobile operating system. All in all, Google Music is expected to be a cloud-based subscription service that can stream straight to Android mobile devices. Of course, it is still all hot air at the moment until something concrete comes about, but the potential is certainly there to usurp iTunes in due time.
