Hitachi aims to make yet another mark for itself in the LED TV market in Japan, introducing the L42-ZP05 and L37-ZP05 models that will feature Hitachi’s new Slim-block LED technology that are capable of controlling the brightness of a small block of LEDs independently, resulting in sharp contrasts as well as clear colors and deep blacks. Apart from that, scaling back brightness in black pixels also results in lower power consumption – we are looking at around 27% for the L42 and 21% for the L37. For those who have too many things on their plate, a built-in 500GB hard drive allows you to record up to 400 hours of TV just in case you missed out on your favorite show or series. There is no word on pricing, and we are kept in the dark as to whether Hitachi will be rolling this out to the mass market Stateside or not.
