Owners of the HTC Droid Eris from Verizon Wireless will be disappointed when they hear of this news – it will not see the Android 2.2 Froyo update anytime in the near future, or ever. While it might be hard to take, it isn’t too surprising either since Verizon has already stopped selling the HTC Droid Eris since June this year. Of course, this doesn’t mean that all hope is lost, as most probably some enterprising brains at XDA-Developers as well as other online modding communities will be able to deliver a custom version of the Android 2.2 Froyo update. Guess it is best to get something newer if you’re looking for a pre-loved Android smartphone, eh?
