Internet Explorer 9 enters beta phase

Microsoft has seen their beloved Internet Explorer’s global browser market share decline year on year, slipping far away (we’re talking about 60%) from the 90% figure back in 2003. Hopefully Microsoft will be able to gain some ground with its Internet Explorer 9 beta announcement, where executives from the company will probably keep their fingers crossed that IE9 beta will be able to keep Google Chrome and Firefox’s progress in check. Touted to be much faster than IE8, IE9 will also be more compliant with emerging HTML5, CSS3 and SVG2 standards. Basically, Microsoft is pinning their hopes on IE9 being the only browser to take advantage of full hardware acceleration whenever you surf the Internet. Of course, Mozilla has disputed this claim, touting that they are faster and earlier, but that’s another can of worms. We’re happy as long as the consumer or end user wins.
