
Folks shopping around for a new rugged phone might want to perk their ears as word is going around that Sonim is planning to introduce a new rugged phone, dubbed the Sonim XP1300 Core. The XP1300 is slated to be announced in early October and will be IP68 certified, meaning that it provides complete protection against dust and can be submerged in water with depths of 1 meter or greater. The XP1300 will feature GPRS/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, media player, and web browsing capabilities. Pricing for the phone hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it’s expected to be priced around $500.
