Sony Ericsson will no longer deliver phones running on Symbian OS

It is the end of the road where the Symbian operating system is concerned for Sony Ericsson handsets, as they will be rolling out Android only in the future. Truth be told, Symbian has been on the decline when it comes to groundbreaking and newer features, with Nokia themselves looking to the MeeGo platform as a possible replacement. Despite having its fair share of success over the years with Symbian S60 handsets such as the Vivaz, Sony Ericsson spokesman Aldo Liguori said, “We have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system.”
