T-Mobile G2 Confirmed With Android 2.2, Flash 10.1, And 800MHz CPU

T-Mobile has lifted the wraps on its upcoming Android-powered G2 HSPA+ phone, as its T-Mobile Scoop site already pictures the device, confirming that it’ll be powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, which is still slower than the 1GHz processors that we’re used to seeing nowadays. Aside from that, it has also been confirmed that the G2 will be running Android 2.2, Flash Player 10.1, as well as one-touch quick keys. That’s all the details for the moment, but we’re keeping an eye out to see if the leaked pricing details tally with the official announcement.

Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license

HSPA+ is also known as Evolved High-Speed Packet Access. It is a mobile broadband protocol that was defined by the 3GPP standard, release 7. In Theory, the HSPA+ data rate can go up to 84 Mbps (Megabits per second) downstream (to the mobile), and 22Mbps upstream (back to the tower). These numbers are achieved by using multiple streams, so they should be considered theoretical and peak performance numbers. The HSPA+ specifications support up to 168Mbps of theoretical peak rate. Although many HSPA+ carriers call it 4G, it is very different from 4G LTE
