Toshiba AC100 can run Android apps, not perfected

The Toshiba AC100 might be powered by Google Android 2.1, but that doesn’t mean all is fine and dandy. After all, Google has yet to offer official support for notebooks, resulting in Toshiba working on custom software for Android to function with a touchpad (as an example). Toshiba has also included Opera as the default browser of choice instead of the standard Webkit-based browser that comes along with most, if not all Android devices. You won’t find the official Gmail app, Google Calendar, and Google Android Market pre-loaded in the AC100 though, and initial testing with some third party apps have ended up with a mixed bag of results. Docs to Go works fine, but for those who get their news off a RSS feed will find that the NewsRob news reader app functions albeit looking weird in 1,024 x 600 resolution.
