Trimble announces Trimble Juno SD handheld field computing device

Trimble has just made it known to the world that the Trimble Juno SD, a pocket-sized lightweight field computing device that is durable as well as highly portable will be available soon. Within, you will find features such as integrated GPS navigation, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3-megapixel camera, a 533MHz processor, 128MB of internal memory as well as a microSDHC memory card slot for further expansion if the need arises. The 3.5-inch display ought to be enough for its needs, while built-in 3.5G HSDPA cellular SMS and voice capability turns this into a cellphone of sorts – perhaps even falling under the smartphone category. The main use of the Juno SD would be enabling mobile workers to access the Internet in the field (work-orders, map data, reference files, emails, and Internet resources) without having to be at the office. while doing away with the need to tote around a separate cellphone. It will run on the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform that boasts personal productivity tools including Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, Internet Explorer Mobile, and Outlook Mobile. Hmmm, with Windows Phone 7 ready to rock and roll in due time, we do wonder the wisdom of this device’s release timing. [Press Release]
