Via intends to make USB 3.0 devices more affordable to the masses since it is still relatively new to the mass market, by rolling out the quad-channel controller known as the VL750. This controller will rely on the 4 channels to increase transfer speed even when one is stuck with slower and cheaper memory. Currently awaiting certification from the USB-IF, distributors would probably be clamoring after this device once the USB-IF gives their nod of approval. It will sport a 100 MB/s effective transfer speed via USB 3.0, while on paper 35MB/s is achievable on USB 2.0.
