Asus Confirms Split With Garmin

It was previously rumored that Asus and Garmin would be ending their Garmin-Asus joint venture and now an unnamed Asus official has confirmed such suspicions. Specific details weren’t mentioned just yet, but Asus is expected to give more details on Tuesday. While the smartphone market has been seeing huge growth, the Garmin-Asus alliance hasn’t really delivered the desired sales volumes, which is probably the reason for the split. Such a move would probably mean that Garmin would be exiting the smartphone business and giving it the liberty to focus on coming up with GPS navigation apps for the iOS and Android platforms.
