China has its own mapping service

Trust China to come up with their very own mapping service, where it is known as Map World. The site itself will feature many high resolution images of numerous Chinese cities, and people who access it will be able to check out increasingly detailed satellite images of China and high-level images of other nations. The flat maps themselves can be viewed in 3D if visitors download and install a browser plug-in to convert the images. While the service is still in development, it will be updated regularly, and can currently handle around 10 million visits per day. That’s not too much considering the population of China (more than 1 billion and counting), but hopefully the government will do something about it in due time to accommodate more people.
