Garmin And Asus Officially Announce Split

We briefly touched on the subject a little while ago and now Asus and Garmin have officially declared the end of their smartphone partnership but it still allows for collaboration and expansion of Garmin’s smartphone efforts to the iPhone and other platforms. The new situation will see Asus go back to making its own phones but continue to use Garmin GPS apps on its Android phones for a few years. Garmin has also indirectly confirmed rumors that it would be developing GPS navigator apps for certain consumer application stores. If that turns out to be true, the smart money will be on the iPhone receiving an official Garmin GPS app for the platform. Garmin will continue to sell and support devices such as the Garminfone and Nuvifone G60, though there will be no more new models launched in the future.
