Mirasol Low-power Displays Delayed Till 2011

We’re all looking forward to low-power color displays that are capable of looking good in direct sunlight, and thus most folks were waiting for the arrival of the Mirasol displays from Qualcomm, slated to arrive in 2010. There is a spot of bad news, though, as word is out that Qualcomm has pushed back the arrival date of its Mirasol displays to early 2011. These displays were designed to be used in eBook readers and tablet devices, and they do perform rather well, even in direct sunlight. Hopefully there won’t be another delay after this and we’ll see tablets sporting this display soon.
