Nintendo Sees Apple As A Bigger Threat Than Microsoft To Its Gaming Business

Seems like even Nintendo is feeling the pinch related to the success of Apple’s devices. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has said in a recent interview that he views Apple as a bigger threat to its share of gaming than Microsoft. Apple has a similar effect to Farmville and simple entertainment since it consumed free time that would normally be used on a Nintendo system, with the interview reminding us that Nintendo competes with Zynga, surfing the net and the newspaper. He did mention that while iOS devices are good for casual play, Nintendo’s edge in the whole deal is the availability of in-depth gaming, with some of the bestselling games being on Nintendo systems, such as the Japanese RPG Dragon Quest IX. With Apple gaining plenty of momentum recently, it’s easy to understand that the fruity company is stepping on many companies’ toes.
