RatCar is controlled by a rodent

Just when you thought that the Flintstones’ “car” is ridiculous since it is made out of stone and runs on leg power, along comes the RatCar – a brain-controlled, battery-powered rodent buggy. The brainchild of researchers at the University of Tokyo, it will be controlled by electrodes that are implanted straight into the rodent driver’s motor cortex, where it relies on non-invasive sensors to get the work done. Could this be a preview of what’s to come, especially a brain-machine interface that will enable disabled humans to control their wheelchairs using nothing but their minds? Interesting, we look forward to the future with anticipation and excitement.
