TDK Corporation has something that might just change the ways displays are used in future gizmos – we’re talking about a flexible type whose display is bendable, where it will come in both color and monochrome versions. The flexible type that you see here will be released at the end of next year, so don’t expect to see it hit the market anytime soon. Measuring a mere 0.3mm or less in terms of thickness, it is slightly heavier in the color form factor at 1.11 grams compared to 0.96 grams in the monochrome version. Using a resin substrate, the thickness and weight were both reduced to around 1/6 those of existing panels using a glass substrate. We do look forward to the type of devices that will come out featuring such new OLED panels.
