Toshiba will be rolling out the REGZA IS04 in Japan next January, making it the second KDDI Android-powered smartphone to hit the Land of the Rising Sun. Being on par with other smartphones in that part of the world, it comes with a highly advanced 12.19-megapixel camera with auto-focus feature, while boasting a waterproof design to make sure it functions well even after you’ve accidentally dropped it on a wet bathroom floor. An 1GHz Snapdragon processor will run proceedings from within, not to mention a 4-inch 854 x 480 resolution touchscreen display, although we are a wee bit disappointed with Android 2.1 pre-loaded instead of Android 2.2. Connectivity options come in the form of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1, while a microSDHC memory card slot offers future expansion options. No idea on whether it will head Stateside or Europe, but do expect to see an Android 2.2 Froyo update release next March.
