Toyota is all about people movers with their range of vehicles, and one fine day down the road they might just come up with a unique people mover of their own. We’re talking about a robot which might just assist stroke patients who are paralyzed on one side of their bodies to start walking again. This will be cone in collaboration with Fujita Health University, where robotics might just end up as a core business for Toyota. Currently, those who suffer from one-sided paralysis tend to walk with an awkward gait simply because their legs are kept locked out of fear of tumbling should they flex their knees. This robot is meant to offer assistance by sensing leg movements and supporting the knee with a motor. Good luck to Toyota – hopefully you guys will make it affordable too if and when successful.
