Tube receives first Wi-Fi connection

Charing Cross will be the first tube to offer Wi-Fi connectivity to the masses, marking a new milestone after numerous attempts in the past to get the tube connected. BT just made this announcement, where a 6-month trial will bring Wi-Fi connectivity to the ticket hall and both the Bakerloo and Northern line platforms. It will be made free for BT broadband customers as well as mobile users with free Wi-Fi minutes, with the trial starting from next month onwards. This will clearly make headway in increasing the City of London’s current 95% Wi-Fi coverage in due time. Of course, with London hosting the Olympics in two years’ time, it makes perfect sense if such trials were to be deemed successful and implemented throughout the city in due time.
