Valeo Park4U semi-automatic parking system heading to Volkswagen Touran and Sharan

There are some people out there who still find it difficult to park their vehicles properly even after being behind the wheel for a fair number of years. Of course, it could be due to hand-eye co-ordination shortcomings, but Valeo has some good news for such a select group of folks in the form of their semi-automatic parking system known as Park4U. Finding their way into the Volkswagen Touran and Sharan, this latest generation ultrasonic sensors which are located in the front and rear bumpers will be able to precisely calculate the length of the parking slot available, while moving the car into the slot automatically. It requires a mere 40cm of clearence at either end of the vehicle to make its way into a parking lot, which is nearly half the amount of space required in the first generation. Not only that, it can also exit a tight parking space of 25cm at either end, now how about that? Worth looking into if you want to purchase a vehicle for everyone in your family to use the next time round. [Press Release]
