We’ve heard plenty of reports recently of a Verizon iPhone, and now word is going around that Verizon is upgrading its network capacity to handle the spike in network usage that will follow the release of an iPhone. It’s suggested that Verizon is keen to avoid the reliability issues that plagued AT&T, which saw many customers complain of slow data speeds and dropped calls, especially in urban areas. Verizon is expected to be in a better position at the moment, as its networks are already capable of dealing with the increased data usage brought about by Android-powered devices, though the carrier has acknowledged plans to update its networks to support simultaneous voice and data usage. If the recent rumors are anything to go by, we might even dare to contemplate the possibility of a Verizon iPhone in early 2011.
