Google has confirmed that it’s looking into a major issue that is preventing Android users from downloading attachments in Gmail. Many folks using Gmail 2.3 aren’t able to download content regardless of the device or version of Android that they’re using. The issue even occurs on recent Android phones, such as the T-Mobile G2, where Gmail was already updated by an OTA update that changed the version. The scary thing is that Google hasn’t pinpointed the cause behind this issue just yet and has setup a dedicated page to help users send diagnostic information to help identify the problem. Considering the number of Gmail users out there and the importance of Gmail to the Android platform, hopefully Google will be able to solve this sooner rather than later.
