After Microsoft had announced that it will drop support for Drive Extender, a feature that was promised for Windows Home Server, codenamed Vail, that would enable users to connect multiple hard drives together, the company was bombarded with a number of emails, blog posts, and criticism from users and the media. One Home Server MVP, Terry Walsh, has written company head Steve Ballmer about the issue, to which Ballmer had replied in a direct manner just staying “Let’s look into it.” There is no promise that Microsoft will be bringing back Drive Extender any time soon, but the company is aware of perhaps the importance of this feature to a number of users.
