Dell offers Venue Pro to employees, trading in old BlackBerrys

Dell has dealt RIM a rather large blow (though it is nothing personal, we’re sure) by offering to trade in their employees’ old BlackBerry devices for the new Venue Pro. If everyone in Dell decides to make good on the offer, that would mean 25,000 BlackBerrys being condemned, offering a rather sizeable start to the upcoming Windows Phone 7 device. Of course, we are pretty sure not everyone there owns a BlackBerry, and neither will all BlackBerry owners agree to the trade in, so we could be looking at a more realistic four digit figure at best. This move is touted to cut Dell’s mobile communications bill by a quarter, since there won’t be a need to support BlackBerry servers – an interesting move which also doubles up as a convenient excuse.
