eJuror System Allows Jurors to Respond to Summons Electronically

A new electronic jury system called eJuror will soon be used by the U.S. District Court sytem and is already installed on 80 of 94 district courts. The system will allow potential jurors to respond to their jury summons online, request an extension or excuse, and get a deferral rather than having to mail in any forms or paperwork. Whether this new system will usher in a new era of excuses to evade jury duty, such as the cloud ate my summons, will be unknown, but the $2 million cost for the technology is posed to pay for itself in five years and save $400,000 annually in postage costs.
