The HTC Promise, an Android smartphone with a sliding keyboard, may soon be headed to U.S. wireless carrier AT&T. The device was recently spotted at the FCC and the front fascia reminds us of an HTC Aria for the carrier, but with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Unfortunately, however, not a lot of information is available for the promise and it’s unclear if FCC certification with AT&T’s 3G compatibility will result in the HTC Promise landing on the U.S. network. The device will be targeted at the low-end or mid-range market with a 3.2-inch capacitive touch display and 3.2-megapixel camera and will compete against the Motorola Flipside and Motorola Backflip when and if the device launches.
