The iW1 is the first AirPlay-compatible audio system from iHome and one of the few that offer a built-in rechargeable battery for portability. The iHome iW1 product page is already live and offers juicy details such as photos, details on its charging base, capacitive touch control strip on the top, Bongiovi acoustic design and audio enhancement DSP, Class-D amplification and support for an external charging dock for an iPhone, iPod or iPad. It should allow for a Sonos-like multi-room audio system with the option of piping audio to every iW1 on the local network or individual units. The bad news is that pricing and availability of this device haven’t been mentioned just yet, but hopefully it won’t break the bank and will arrive before the holiday season is over.
