Microsoft Exec Confirms Copy and Paste Coming in Weeks, ETA Early 2011

If you’re on the fence about Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 operating system due to its lack of copy and paste, you should know that the platform will be getting an upgrade “in a matter of weeks” to include that key functionality. According to Arpan Shah, who is a Director for Product Management for Microsoft Project at Microsoft, the feature will be here soon enough.

Shah made mention of the ETA of copy and paste in his personal blog, and says:

Critics have commented on the lack of specific features like copy & paste and lack of 100s of thousands of applications. And while both are true, copy & paste will be available as an update in a matter of weeks (early 2011) and as for applications, it’s just a matter of time.

Other key features that Microsoft will be working on for the smartphone platform include turn-by-turn navigation, a task manager, and Outlook Web Access.
