New cellular system in Israel alerts citizens of missile attack

Israel Defense Forces will announce a spanking new cellular system which is smart enough to alert citizens in the event of a missle attack – at the cost of $7.5 million upwards. Of course, what is that investment when you compare it against the number of lives that can be saved? This cellular application was developed by Israeli high-tech company eViglio alongside Ericsson, with activation tipped to begin from June 2011 onwards. Guess that leaves roughly half a year more for Israel’s enemies to pull off some sort of hanky-panky, although we’re pretty sure the situation in the Middle East will remain peaceful for the time being. eViglio’s system intends for alerts to be sent to cell phones, television and radio stations, web sites and billboards.
