No More Drive Extender Feature on Microsoft's Upcoming Windows Home Server

In its upcoming Windows Home Server, codenamed Vail, Microsoft warns that the company will no longer be offering the Drive Extender feature, which allows for support of numerous internal and external hard drives. Instead, Microsoft cites that the readily available 1 TB hard disc drives on the market today make Drive Extender less important. Windows Home Server is expected to be available in the first half of 2011, with a beta release at the beginning of the year. Additionally, the Drive Extender feature will also be removed from Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.
