PharmaJet offers needle-free injection technology

If you’re one who suffers from trypanophobia – that’s the fear of needles, then you might want to heave a sigh of relief knowing that PharmaJet is on the right track in delivering its needle-free injection technology to the masses in the near future. While it won’t be 100% painless (since pain is subjective and varies from one person to another), it is capable of delivering a more gentle injection – similar to how a tiny rubber band snaps against your skin. PharmaJet’s spring-powered gadget will rely on a high-velocity stream of liquid to deliver vaccines or medication, with the entire seemingly painless process taking less than one-third of a second.

Apart from catering to needlephobes, it also reduces the risk of disease transmission since there is an estimated 16 billion injections given each year in developing countries, with needles being reused or thrown away improperly in some cases resulting in the spread of diseases instead of protecting folks with vaccines. Bear in mind PharmaJet isn’t the only player in this potentially lucrative market, with competitors such as MedImmune and Bioject keen on getting a slice of the pie with various methods.
