Virgin Media is currently toying with the idea of rolling out their very own public Wi-Fi network, where the company itself is picking up the pace from US company Cablevision who has already rolled out their own Wi-Fi network in New York which is capable of offering mobile browsers speeds up to 5Mb. In the same vein, Virgin Media is hoping to make use of its existing infrastructure in order to extend its reach to the masses in the UK. We don’t have any doubt that Virgin Media won’t be able to pull this off, considering they have the resources to install the relevant routers to create public hotspots, although something more concrete would have been much more welcome. Free Wi-Fi public networks for the win!
