Vudu just announced that the online video service would work with the PlayStation 3 on November 23. This is *great* news for PS3 users (at least in north America) as the Vudu on-demand video service is superior to Sony’s own PlayStation network, not only in terms of sheer movie library, but more importantly, in terms of user experience: the Vudu videos just start a whole lot faster than Sony’s PSN movies. We just had a chance to play with it in San Francisco and Vudu on the PS3 is by far the fastest and most responsive version of Vudu. It’s not surprising given that previous Vudu implementation were running on “set top box” hardware, versus a fully-featured game console here. The horse power under the hood is certainly not the same.
Oh, last detail: Vudu for PS3 will also work with the Sony PlayStation Move if you want to use that as a pointer controller.
