The WiGig Alliance and their beloved 60GHz multi-gigabit technology has started to penetrate the higher-end AV market, but their latest partnership with VESA intends to give birth to a certification program for wireless DisplayPort products. By that alone, more tech-savvy consumers will be able to look forward to a new range of products and devices which will hook up PCs as well as handhelds to monitors, projectors and HDTVs, doing so sans wires while offering a basica information superhighway sans any bandwidth “traffic jams”, so to speak. No idea on when prototype devices from this partnership will roll out, but CES 2011 should be a pretty good platform to do so, don’t you think so?
