Amazon might ship 8 million Kindles this yearWhile Amazon was initially expected to ship about five million Kindle eBook readers this year, a significant improvement from the 2.4 million Kindles shipped in 2009, word is in that Amazon might go way past that estimation an instead ship a juicy eight million Kindles instead. There wasn’t any official confirmation from Amazon, but the company had previously stated that it shipped millions of Kindles in just 73 days this fall and eclipsed all of its 2009 sales in that one period. The online retailing giant was also briefly sold out of its Wi-Fi Kindles, though it was back in stock shortly after that. Of course, it’s definitely worth noting that shipping units and selling the units are two different things, but hey, they’ve got to be shipped to be sold, right?
