U.S. big box retailer Best Buy has now stopped selling Verizon Wireless’s Motorola Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro from its lineup. It’s unclear why the two Droid handsets, which are among the most popular smartphones in Verizon’s inventory system, was dropped from Best Buy’s inventory, but some are speculating that the decision to stop selling the Droid 2 was due to an early incident of an exploding Droid 2, which was caused by user mis-use. A Verizon spokesperson had responded to Phonescoop’s call for clarification by saying, “We can’t speak for Best Buy — but both the Droid Pro or the Droid 2 Global are popular sellers. How they manage their inventory is their business but there are no recalls on those devices.” The phones were also pulled from the Best Buy website as well.
