A concept hard disc drive for LaCie made by designer Andre Silva adds a ‘touch’ of utility to the desktop accessory. Rather than just having an inanimate storage object sitting on your desk, Silva’s design essentially turns the top surface of your LaCie HDD into a multi-touch trackpad, complete with gesture support. It’s essentially a hard drive case meets Apple’s Magic Trackpad. The design, dubbed the Dazzle Float, is a minimalistic piece of desktop technology art in its design that combines form and function with a glass touch surface and carbon fiber body, and could help to reduce desktop clutter.
