Windows Phone 7 developers with developer prototype Windows Phone 7 devices from Microsoft are now beginning to receive an update that brings the much awaited copy and paste functionality to the mobile platform. At least two developers are claiming that their Samsung developer prototype Windows Phone 7 smartphones are showing the update available now when connected to the Zune client, which hopefully will indicate that the software update is almost ready for a consumer release, slated to be coming in early 2011. According to the developers, users can now tap on a word to highlight it, and indicators appear to expand the selection. Users can then tap on icons similar to those for copy and paste in Office 2010 to initiate the feature.
