Having trouble getting the latest update on your Android phone via the system settings? Turns out that there is another way to check if your phone has an update waiting for it via a number combination on your phone. Just enter *#*#checkin#*#* while substituting the letters for numbers, giving you *#*#2432546#*#*. This move will put you in the queue and should give you a notification saying “Checkin succeeded”, after which you can go and try a manual system update again. It doesn’t seem to be guaranteed to work every time, but it’s worth a try, though it won’t work for users who have rooted their devices.
