Instagram passes one million user mark

Instagram – heard of it before? The name can be quite self-explanatory even for the non-geek – it surely has something to do with being instant, and perhaps throw in the word ‘telegram’ as well. This is basically a social photo-sharing company allowed iPhone owners to indulge over a couple of months ago, having surpassed the one million registered users milestone this week. This simple photo service allowed folks to share images from a cell phone, followed by including unique and fun filters after that for added effect. Kevin Systrom, co-founder of Instagram, was pretty amazed at the company’s growth, touting that Instagram began with all of 80 users, where they had the rather “audacious goal” of letting people share media in an open community. This growth is pretty phenomenal, but in this day and age of super fast information technology, don’t be surprised that there will be other services in the future which will reach this milestone a whole lot faster.
