Another day, another Kinect hack. At this rate, the Kinect will certainly be one of the more versatile gaming accessories to date, considering the amount of modifications done in its coding to apply to various situations in life. This time around, the Kinect has been hacked to allow you to control a classic game of Pong – using nothing but your hand. This was made possible thanks to openFrameworks and ofxKinect as a proof of concept for hand tracking. Perhaps when the Kinect’s resolution is quadrupled with a future firmware update, things will change and you can even use your finger to flick the Pong ball back to your opponent instead of using your hands.
