A McAfee Threat Predictions report states that Apple’s platforms; especially its mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad will be increasingly targeted by cybercrime in 2011. Such a move really wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, considering the popularity of devices and the lack of dedicated security software for it, such as antivirus programs and such. Of course, it isn’t Apple’s devices that are the only ones who are in the radar as other platforms are relatively unsupervised too. Threats will be even more prominent on unsupervised markets, such as Google’s Android Market, though Google has yanked apps that violate certain terms or prove to be malicious. The bottom line is, as portable devices become increasingly popular and important to us, we need to be more careful with the security associated with these devices.
