Pandora: No Windows Phone 7 App

Microsoft had previously touted that Pandora would be one of the Windows Phone 7 (WP7) launch partners, which was meant to be great news for Windows Phone 7 fans out there. The bad news is that the Internet radio provider later stated that it had no plans to develop an app for the WP7 platform, dealing a significant blow to the appeal of Microsoft’s latest mobile phone OS. It’s worth noting that two of Pandora’s biggest competitors – Slacker and Last.fm – already have come up with and released WP7 apps. When contacted again about Pandora’s plans for WP7, the company’s reply wasn’t too encouraging, and it read:

“While we’re excited to see companies innovating and while we’re not ready to make an announcement specifically related to the Win 7 phone, we generally want to be everywhere our listeners want us to be.”
