Now this piece of news is certainly going to pique the interest of many – especially hackers, as Samsung just announced that they are working on a new firmware update for the Galaxy Tab that will definitely be a much tighter ship compared to what Apple offers for the iPad. It seems that the new JM6 A, C and D builds from Samsung will come with signed bootloaders with the aim of preventing unauthorized firmware from running. The moment the firmware is installed, all forms of jailbreaks, roots and other custom firmware will be rendered as useful as a retired politician. There is still no final confirmation on whether the firmware in its current state will target final devices, as previous leaked builds did not come with similar restrictions. Ironically, if this is made official, the Android 2.2-powered tablet will be more restrictive than the iPad – now how about that?
