Remember Jack Nicholson’s character from As Good As It Gets? That man certainly had an unhealthy paranoia with cleanliness, wearing gloves and using them at just about any and every opportunity. If you happen to freak out at the thought of countless dirty public hands running through a door handle, then you might wish that the self-sterilizing door handle had been invented and implemented already. In theory, this concept is pretty self-explanatory, relying on ultraviolet (UV) light to kill off those nasty germs that your eyes cannot see. After all, isn’t prevention better than cure? Surely something like this will see the drop in common communicable diseases, but we do hope that it will be energy efficient enough should it actually roll off the production line one of these days.
